Hello, friends and church family!  Let’s get caught up on the latest church news on this busy holiday weekend.

Our songs today were “God’s Not Dead”, ”Let The Praises Ring”, “Blessed Assurance”,  “Stand In Your Love” , and a new one from Phil Wickham, “This Is Our God”. The Harvest Table is such a blessing for homegrown produce.  Today we had lots of  yellow tomatoes, yellow squash, and  pears.

Thank you for your kind donations to the community food pantry this morning.  We were informed the shelves were bare except for cereal.

Women, Hello My Name Is potluck brunch with a mystery guest speaker is Saturday, September 9th, 9-11 am.  Eileen DeSando will host in Frankfort.  

8 am this Saturday  men will meet at the church for Donuts and Devotional.  Pastor Bob can answer any questions.  Invite male friends.  No charge.

Senior Rally Fall Kickoff Luncheon is Wednesday, September 20th at noon at the church. Sign up to attend and to bring a dish.  Kathy Felchlin is leading this.

“23”, a new small group for young adults, kicks off at the Knotts’ home September 7th with an ice cream social. If you haven’t already signed up, RSVP to them ASAP for directions and more info.

Mark your calendars for the third Sunday of each month for “Stone Soup” potluck meal immediately after service.  Sign up sheets are on the Connect Table for attendance and to indicate what you will bring to eat. We need cooks, set up and tear down volunteers.

While you are at the Connect Table, pick up your copy of the new Our Daily Bread devotional.  We always have extras, so feel free to take some to share with friends.

Leslie Graniczny has spent many days in Silver Cross Hospital and rehab, and was finally discharged home Saturday afternoon.  She will continue dialysis on outpatient basis to support her weak kidneys.

Leslie Graniczny spent many days in Silver Cross Hospital, and has now been transferred to the rehab 5th floor there.  Hopefully, she will be released in a week or so if she continues to improve.

Happy Birthday to Debbie Giera on the 2nd!  Marnie Carlson and Faith Cromwell share a September 3rd birthday.

Pastor Billy will be back in the pulpit Sunday, so we hope to see you all next week. Thank you for all you do to support this ministry!

Special prayers for Freda Wolfenden who has spent her week in Silver Cross Hospital again. The was released Saturday afternoon.  Leslie Graniczny was taken from church by ambulance to Silver Cross Hospital this morning.  At time of this writing she is awating a bed in ICU.

Happy Birthday to Jessica Ward on the 23 and Scarlett Hippenhammer on the 24th!

Round of applause for Jessica Holub for winning second place in the Elwood Community Days Talent Show with her version of “People Get Ready”.  Congratulations!

Our new floral design on the cross was created by Judy Fash.  How beautiful!

Today was Parents’ Afternoon Out when kids stayed and parents left to enjoy free time.  The church provided an outdoors picnic lunch, music, crafts, and games.   Big thanks to those who volunteered to work this event.

The Harvest Table was filled with free goodies this morning!  If you have extra garden produce, wash it, and set out what you have.  If you want some, take it.    Thank you to the gardeners who brought fresh herbs, cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers!  We had so much left over we blessed the Vape Shop next door with the excess.

Thank you to to Larry and Eileen for hosting our final potluck adult connect group of the summer Friday evening.  They had good attendance and a lot of delicious food on the table.

We were so surprised and happy to see Bob and Ellen Startz and Larry Dedmon stroll in the door!  All three have had serious health issues and been absent from us. Our sweet Freda Wolfenden was also in Silver Cross many days and was discharged Friday evening for home recuperation.

Condolences to the Printy and Agema families on the passing of Tom and Beth’s  mother, Marian Agema, on Wednesday. Visitation is at Colonial Chapel funeral home in Orland Park today 2-5 pm with the service at 5pm.

We hope to see everybody back next Sunday.  Remember to bring double-bagged non-perishables with you for our monthly food pantry collection.  Thank you for your support with finances, serving, and attendance. Have a super week!

Very best wishes to Marian Agema (Beth Printy’s mom) who spent several days in the hospital and was sent home with hospice care Friday. Special prayers for greeter, Larry Dedmon, who is scheduled for heart surgery at Silver Cross tomorrow.

Rita Brown’s ashes were placed alongside Bob’s at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood Friday with Ron Schmidt presiding. Bob & Rita together again.  What an amazing couple they were.  They are forever loved and missed.

Hello, church family!

Gene O’Brien has returned from his extended Samaritan’s Purse mission in Alaska!  It was wonderful having him back in service with us and to see his photos and hear stories of his work there 

Men’s Donuts and Devotional welcomed Bobby Smith as guest speaker Saturday.  There has a been a lot of positive feedback after his talk!  Thank you for coming, Bobby!

Summer Connect Supper is at Pastor Bob and Heather’s home in Mokena on July 14th, 6:30 pm.  Kids are welcome if well behaved and supervised.  Bring a dish to share if you are coming.

Today was Dale Steen’s last service with us, and we are so sad about that. He and his son leave Wednesday for Louisiana where he has a new job.  We have certainly loved Dale, and will miss him.  Hopefully we will see him again near Thanksgiving. Best wishes!

Hello, church family! Thank you for joining us on this Independence Day weekend for worship. So many folk showed up in their patriotic colors, and the church was adorned with flags and the floral cross designed by Judy Fash. We had a fun morning in spite of the steady rain falling.

Our songs this morning were “Love the Lord”, ” I Am Free”, ”Who You Say I Am”, and “America the Beautiful/Battle Hymn of the Republic”. Larry also gifted each person with a lovely Armor Of God bookmark.

Thank you kindly for your donations of non-perishables for the community food pantry.  We collect the first Sunday of each month.

Hello, friends!  Welcome to Communion Sunday at Revolution Church! It was so blustery we could’ve called it Mary Poppins Sunday and floated in on our umbrellas rather than drive!

Our songs this morning were ” Trading My Sorrows”, ”Eye of the Storm”,  “Your Love Never Fails”, “Jesus Paid It All ”, and “When We All Get To Heaven”. The message was “666” with text from Revelation 13. Pastor also answered many other submitted questions in what he called “the speed round”. This concluded the “Questions” series. Thanks to all who participated.  (You can watch this and past messages by going to the home page and clicking WATCH.) Monthly prayer meeting was held after service for those who wished to stay.

Senior Picnic was well attended Wednesday.  We thank Judy Fash for demonstrating her gift of flower arranging during the luncheon.  Teresa Page was the lucky lady who won the floral design Judy made on stage!

Summer Connect Supper is at Pastor Bob and Heather’s home in Mokena.  Mark your calendar for Friday, July 14th, 6:30 pm.  Kids are welcome if well behaved and supervised.  You must RSVP at the Connection Table to attend and to sign up to bring a dish.

Big thanks to Bruce Smit for bringing his happy yellow Model A for photo ops and for quick rides for as many as wanted to take a spin and beep the ooga horn before and after service.  How fun!

Hello, friends! It felt like dreary November instead of sunny summer this morning.  It was so chilly and rainy several resurrected their fall wardrobes to stay warm.

Today was Graduation Sunday, and we recognized eight graduates that ranged from kindergarten to Police Academy!  Congratulations to Scarlett, Corey, Jimmy, Kevin, Ashley, Dominic, Brynn, Katie, Margaret and Nathaniel!

Next Sunday, weather permitting, Bruce Smit will be bringing an antique vehicle or two for the traditional rides around the building for the holiday.  You are welcome to hop in and take a spin immediately after dismissal if you would like the sample the Model A experience!

They are allowing young children to come in for their incarcerated mothers to read to them, so we will now be on the lookout for paperback children’s book for elementary and preschool levels.

Parents’ Afternoon Out is next Sunday, August 13th, 11:30-3:30 pm. Kids stay, and parents leave to enjoy free time.  The church will provide lunch, music, crafts, and games.

If you are a mature older teen or up to your 30s, you are invited to “23”, a new small group for young adults.  The first and third Wednesdays of each month you are invited to the Knotts home for a devotion and time to visit from 6:30-8 pm.  The last Friday of the month will be a time of socializing and food. Mark your calendars for the third Sunday of each month beginning in September for “Stone Soup” potluck meal immediately after service.  Sign up sheets are on the Connect Table. We need cooks and set up/tear down volunteers.

Happy Birthday to Oscar Hammerberg on the 11th. Our resident florist, Judy Fash, celebrates on the 13th! Heidi Termuende had a birthday Saturday!  Thank you to all who are signing the birthday cards at the back table for the people in custody.  Everybody likes to be remembered. 

 

Condolences to Debby Giera who had to say goodbye to her beloved 14 year old cat, Sweet Pea.  Pet grief is particularly rough.
