This is the first Sunday of Advent.  The Luiz Lopez family lit the Candle of HOPE and read the Advent scriptures.

Isn’t the church beautifully decorated for the holidays?  Thank you to Greg and Judy Fash for organizing, and to Georgia Nordwall, Diane Neakarse, Faith Cromwell, Penny Knott, Connie Schuler, and Kathy Felchlin who showed up to do the work to make the place so festive! Pastor Billy treated them to pizza Friday! The decorating team was today’s Ministry Highlight. 

Membership Class was held last Sunday afternoon.  Today let us welcome our newest members: Jessica Holub, Alice Lawson, Sheila Murphy, Deborah Corbin, Carolyn Summins, Richard Rock and Peggy Walley-Rock! 

If you desire to become a fully devoted follower of Christ and would like to learn more about the Christian faith, please sign up at the Connection Table for “Foundations” taught by Pastor Bob and Heather Smith. If there is enough interest, they will offer the class.

Also at the Connection Table there is a sign-up sheet for those interested in learning to journal and develop your quiet time.  This will take place at Penny Knott’s home before church on Sunday mornings.

Ladies, have you purchased your ticket for our annual Christmas supper and program on Dec. 9, 6:00 pm? Heather Smith is the ticket seller, and at time of purchase you can select your seat. Tables are filling up fast. There will be holiday music, prizes, games, a delicious meal, and a professional guest speaker, Gail Morris!  Brenda Hajek leads this event if you have questions.  Visit the Connection Table to sign up for ways you can help! There are still many openings for ways to serve.

Gentlemen, we are seeking a few good men to serve at the women’s Christmas event.  Will you dress up and show up so our ladies can have a couple hours of relaxation?  Sign up sheet is on the Connection Table.

Pastor Bob is still collecting coats for Morning Star Mission in Joliet to help keep our struggling friends warmer this winter. The snows season is already upon us.  There is a collection tub beside the camera table. New or gently used items are welcomed.

Remember to bring non-perishables to share in our Food Pantry collection next Sunday.  Be kind and double bag to prevent drips or rips during delivery, please.

Ladies Prayer and Devotional will be Saturday, Dec. 3rd, 8 a.m. at Penny Knott’s home.  Please sign up if attending.

Annual Ugly Sweater contest is Sunday, December 18th, so let’s get creative with the gaudy and the tacky! After church you are invited to stay for our holiday lunch! Kids will be singing for us! Church provides fried chicken, and we are to bring the desserts and side dishes.  We MUST know how many to prepare for, so SIGN UP ASAP at the Connection Table for a seat and to contribute food.

Let us encourage you to take 30 seconds and sign the Graybars Project birthday cards for our inmates at the back corner table. A word of encouragement is always welcomed.  Thanks to those who mailed out Thanksgiving cards.  We are already receiving positive feedback from recipients!

Special prayers are needed for the Lees. Durk was transferred to an Orland Park  rehab after broken hip repair. A fall at rehab has landed him at Palos Hospital now.

Condolences to the Bob and Connie Schuler family on the loss of his father Monday.

Membership Class was held after service with pizza lunch for attendees. We will announce new members next Sunday.

Senior Thanksgiving turkey lunch was Wednesday, and the tables were beautifully decorated with pumpkin floral centerpieces by Judy Fash! Multiple people won gift cards to various local establishments.  Food was so plentiful there was enough to take to shut ins, and to feed the employees at the vape shop next door.  Thank you to all who cooked, cleaned, decorated and attended!

Heather Smith began selling $10 tickets for the Ladies Christmas Event today.  Get yours quickly as seats are limited. (Sorry, no credit.) Ladies, save Friday, December 9, 6:00 pm for this beautiful evening. (The bulletin says 6:30, but it starts at SIX.) Brenda Hajek is in charge this year.  Men, would you help serve?  There is a sign up sheet on the Connection Table!

Special prayers are needed for the Lees.  Durk fell and broke a hip, and had surgery Wednesday to screw the pieces back together. This has been a rugged week for both him and Linda.  Pray for wisdom for perfect placement for where he should be sent for rehab.

Today Ministry Highlight was collection of Shoe Boxes for Operation Christmas Child! We prayed over the boxes for safe passage and for all the Samaritan’s Purse volunteers. Oh my goodness, what a pile of surprises and blessing the kids will have from us!  Remember to keep your label stub so you can track your box.  It will be fun to see how far some of these will travel. Collection deadline was been extended to NEXT SUNDAY.

Membership Class is November 20th after service.  This is a time to have any questions answered about this church.  You are not required to join if you attend. Pizza will be served.  Indicate if you need child care when you sign up at the Connection Table.

55+ Senior Thanksgiving turkey lunch is Nov. 16, noon, at the church.  Kathy Felchlin can give you more info about this annual feast! Please do come! The tables will be decorated, and the fellowship will be sweet. If you forgot to sign up, let Kathy know what you are cooking and that you are coming so there will be enough tables prepared.

We clapped and cheered when Ron, Georgia, and Kay Schmidt walked in the door! What a wonderful surprise to see Kay back after nearly a year of harsh battles with cancer and post-op complications!

We sang “God Bless the USA” and recognized all our veterans to commemorate Veterans Day on the 11th. Each person was given a tiny plastic soldier to take home to help us remember to pray for our military. Special thanks to Dale Steen for presenting the flag. Thank you, Tammy Smit, for baking the camoflauge cupcakes served after church! 

Donors for the food pantry collection, you are so appreciated!  We are helping keep several families financially afloat by sharing.

 If you are packing a Shoe Box for Operation Christmas Child, know the collection date is NEXT SUNDAY.  Let’s get these finished and labeled for boy/girl plus age group! Mandatory labels are found at the Connection Table. You may enclose your $10 shipping inside the shoebox.

Hello, family and friends! Welcome to Communion & Family Sunday at Revolution Church!

 

Today’s songs were “Glorious One”, “Good Morning Mercy”, ”Because He Lives”, and “Stand In Your Love”. Pastor Billy delivered a message, “Fear Factor” with text from Matthew 10:26-33 and Proverbs 9:6.   You can watch this and past messages by going to the home page and clicking WATCH.) This concludes the Game Show sermon series.  Sure was fun! Monthly prayer meeting followed for those who wished to stay.

Fear Factor game was played to reinforce the message.  Contestants were Bob Schuler, Harvey Ferguson, and Elisabeth Hippenhammer. They sampled dreadful foods such as crispy dried crickets, chocolate covered sardines and beef tongue!   Elisabeth won!  All took home restaurant gift cards.

October is officially Pastor Appreciation Month, so at the end of service we had a contest between members who dressed like either of our pastors.  We had some super creative and funny entries.  Winner for Pastor Billy was Bruce Smit.  Winner for Pastor Bob was Tammy Smit. They won movie tickets.

Hello again!  What spectacular colors and perfect fall weather the Lord gave us today!  Thank you for coming out to support your church.

Pastor Billy delivered a message, “Wheel of Fortune” with text from Acts 16 (story of the fortune teller) and 2 Chronicles 33:1-6.  You can watch this and past messages by going to the home page and clicking WATCH.

Wheel of Fortune game was played to reinforce the sermon.  Contestants were Faith Cromwell, Tammy Smit, and Sandy Chambers.  Faith won and took home a $50 restaurant gift card! Special thanks to Kevin Giera for being a good sport and wearing the blonde Vanna wig!

October is officially Pastor Appreciation Month, so remember to speak and show your love to the Knotts and the Smiths! Both couples were the Ministry Highlight today.  Next Sunday those who wish to participate are asked to dress like Pastor Billy or Pastor Bob.  It is all in jest, so get creative and let’s have some fun as we celebrate them!

The little Harvest Table is still chugging along with gifts free for the taking.  Diane Neakarse shared more of her little tomatoes and winter squash with us, and an unknown person shared bottles of hand sanitizer.  Thank you! Leave what you have and take what you need.

We certainly had a whoop-ti-do time at the Shine Your Light event here Friday evening. There was food, cookie decorating, and a pumpkin contest.  Winners were:  Most Traditional Pumpkin:  Jason Hippenhammer, Cutest Pumpkin: Ellie Szewczyk, and Most Creative Pumpkin, Tammy Smit.  They each won gift cards to Chick-Fil-A.

Hello again!  Here’s the latest news from your favorite church:

Let’s clap and cheer and throw rice at our newlyweds!  Peggy Walley and Richard Rock were married here Saturday in a sweet and simple ceremony.  We wish them many years of happiness and joy together.  Thank you to all who worked hard to make their day special!

Just before the Meskin wedding last weekend a panel of our twinkle stage lights burnt out! (Sorry about that Joe and Jamie!)  Deacon Gene O’Brien worked a long time this week high on a ladder replacing those lights for Peggy and Richard’s service. We appreciate that, Geno!  Looks great!

Looks like the Harvest Table is coming to an end for the season.  Diane Neakarse shared more of her little tomatoes with us, and we were shocked she is still able to pick produce at her address after this cold spell. 

Senior Pumpkin Patch Luncheon for ages 55 and up is Wednesday, October 19 at noon at the church.  If you haven’t signed up yet, bring a dish to share and let somebody know you are coming so there will be seats available. Speak to Kathy Felchlin if you want more information.

Thank you to Larry DeSando for opening his home in Frankfort for chili and men’s fellowship on Friday night. Donuts and Devotional will resume 8 am Sat, Nov. 12th at the church.  Ladies are invited to prayer at the Knott home at the same day and time.

Pumpkin carving contest is Friday, October 21, 6:30 pm at the church. There will also be light refreshments and cookie decorating.  This is for ALL ages! Bring your own pumpkin and carving tools.  Bring a snack to share. See Penny Knott for more info.

Welcome back, family and friends!  Here’s what’s happening here at Revolution Church:

“The Price Is Right” game that helped illustrate the sermon had four contestants: Alice, Don, Georgia and Charlie.  Big winner was Miss Alice who took home a burrito game and a NEW CAR… It was a toy car, but still….  YAY!

Claps and cheers for Joe Meskin and Jamie Voustros who were married at the church Saturday! What a sharp looking couple! Thanks to all who helped in any way to make this day special for them and their families.

Ministry Highlight featured  Eileen DeSando’s Daily Scriptures online devotions.  If you would like to receive these, please mark your Connection Card.  Thank you, Eileen!

We had a mystery donor at the Harvest Table this morning, so we hope you took home those fat, red tomatoes for your supper.  Thank you, whoever you are!  Share what you have, and take what you need is the motto for this table.

Senior Pumpkin Patch Luncheon for ages 55 and up is Wednesday, October 19 at noon at the church.  Sign up at the Connection Table to share a dish or to attend, and speak to Kathy Felchlin if you want more information.

Men are invited to Larry DeSando’s home in Frankfort for chili and fellowship Friday, October 14, 7 pm.  This will replace Donuts and Devotional this month.

Welcome back, family and friends!  Here’s what’s happening here at Revolution Church:

A special blessing was prayed over our children’s ministry directors Joe Meskin and Jamie Voustros as they will be getting hitched  at the church Saturday!

Ministry Highlight featured Fishes and Loaves, the cooking ministry led by Dawn Gonda.  If you would enjoy providing a meal to a family in the church when a need arises, Dawn would love having you on her crew.

Speaking of food, thank you for donating to our monthly food pantry collection today! Also, Peggy and Richard supplied all the free yellow tomatoes on the Harvest Table, so we hope you took home a baggie of them. Share what you have and take what you need.

Senior Pumpkin Patch Luncheon for ages 55 and up is Wednesday, October 19 at noon at the church.  Sign up at the Connection Table to share a dish or to attend, and speak to Kathy Felchlin if you want more information.

Women’s monthly devotional and prayer will be at the Knott’s Manhattan home Saturday Oct. 8th, 8 am.  Please sign up!

Men are invited to Larry DeSando’s home in Frankfort for chili and fellowship Friday, October 14, 7 pm.  Sign up at the Connection Table. This will replace Donuts and Devotional this month.

Pumpkin carving night is Friday, October 21, 6:30 pm at the church. There will also be good food and cookie decorating.  This is for ALL ages! Bring your own pumpkin.  See Penny Knott for more info. Sign up so we will know you are coming.

Welcome back, family and friends!  Here’s what’s happening on Communion Sunday here at Revolution Church:

Today’s songs were “Unchanging”, “Love the Lord”, ”We Fall Down”, “Jesus Paid It All” and “Amazing Grace”. Pastor Billy delivered a message, “The Newlywed Game” with text from John 1:1-14 to continue this month’s Game Show series.  Monthly prayer meeting was held after service for those wishing to participate. Much appreciation to Jamie Voustrous for putting our lyrics on the wall for us today.  This was her first time helping at the tech table, and she did great!

The “Newlywed Game” that helped illustrate the sermon had three contestants, John and Ann Nordsell, Luiz and Veronica Lopez, and Jason and Kristen Hippenhammer.  The Nordsells were the big winners and took home a gift card for a meal at Olive Garden!

Ministry Highlight featured Judy Fash and her team of church decorators.  The sanctuary was gorgeous with pumpkins and fall flowers, and will welcome in October!  Thanks so much!

Balloon artist, Autumn Hensle, outdid himself today!  Children’s Church had soooo many balloon pumpkins for the children to carry home, and then he made several other surprise balloon creations for adults.  What a talent, and what a generous heart!  Thank you!

Two thumbs up to Kevin “Eclipse” Giera on his first Sunday serving as a greeter! If you don’t know him, he stands head and shoulders above all the rest of us!Just look for the tallest guy in the room.  Mark your Connection Card if you would like to help in this area.

Senior Welcome Back Luncheon was Wednesday with 19 attending to eat pork, salad, potatoes, and the fixings.  Thank you Kathy Felchlin and her team for this delicious fellowship meal!

The “Jeopardy” game to help illustrate the sermon had three contestants: Linda DeLost, Debbie Dobias, and Phil Graniczny. Phil was the big winner for Daily Double and took home a whole $4.00! Woo-hoo!

Kate Radtke proudly showed off her baby, Joshua.  She must be slipping Miracle-gro into his bottle as the boy is in a growth spurt, not to mention that head of hair!

Americans celebrated Truck Driver Appreciation this week, and we all applauded Bob Schuler, our favorite trucker!

Welcome to the world, Olivia Marie Van Kuiken!  Congratulations to parents, Van and Erin, and to big brother, Henry. We are eager to see her in person!

Thank you to all who honored the family and loved ones of Donna Windberg last weekend. She will be forever missed at this church. She had a beautiful visitation and funeral here. Thank you to all who helped with her needs during cancer treatments, and then assisted later with her service, food, cleaning, and loving on Gary and his out of town guests.  Burial will be private.  Please be in prayer for Gary and check on him often.

Pull up a seat, friends, as we solemnly remember 8 EMTs/Paramedics, 60 Police Officers, 343 Firefighters and 2997 Civilians who perished in the 9-11 attacks. 

It is with the heaviest of hearts we announce that our precious Donna Windberg passed away unexpectedly at home Monday morning.  Her visitation will be at the church TODAY at 1 pm with her funeral following here at 4 pm.  Burial will be private.  Please be in prayer for Gary and the family who are facing overwhelming shock and grief. It was good to have Donna’s family in worship service alongside us. 

Today’s songs were “Trading My Sorrows”, “I’ll Fly Away”, ”Living Hope”, and “You Never Let Go”.  Pastor Billy delivered a message, “Let’s Make A Deal” with text from Job 1:8-12 and Mark 17 There was special prayer after service for teachers and students returning to school.(You can watch this and past messages by going to the home page and clicking WATCH.)

“Let’s Make a Deal” game to help illustrate the sermon had three winning contestants: Linda DeLost/bag of munchies, Grant Cromwell/cider and Aldi gift card, and Diana Lopez took home the ZONK! gift of a great big warty pumpkin! How fun!

Round of applause for all who participated in the Manhattan Labor Day Party at the Round Barn last Sunday! We appreciated all who helped with set up, tear down, evangelizing, manning the information tent, and donating candy. Pastor Bob passed out 500 tracts and played blessings over families. Jan Golden put together a gorgeous raffle basket worth $200, and the winner was Amber McFadden.  Congratulations, Amber!

Goodbye, August. Hello, September! Pull up a seat, friends, and let’s talk about what’s happening around here on this gray Labor Day weekend.
