Welcome back, church family! Let’s chat about what’s happening at Revolution here on this holiday weekend!

Today’s songs were “Forever”, “Love the Lord”, “If That Isn’t Love”, “Nothing But the Blood”, and “God Bless the USA” in honor of Memorial Day.  Veteran Harvey Ferguson carried the American flag during the last song. Thank you to all who served in our military to keep us safe.   Monthly prayer meeting followed for those who wished to stay.

Today was Family Sunday, so the youth stayed in the sanctuary for the whole service. Pastor Billy delivered a message, “Memorial”, with text from Matthew 4:18-20 and Luke 5. Graybars Project outreach to prisoners has several cards on the back table ready for signing.  Please take a minute to jot your name or an encouraging word for our inmates’ birthdays, new babies, and prison college graduation. Some of the men in this program are relatives of people who attend here.

Wednesday, June 1, 6:30 pm is Ladies Book Club at the church for part 2 of Wounded Lions.  All women are invited.

Mark your calendar for our first Shine Kids Ministry Outreach! Friday, June 3 at 6:30 pm we will host School’s Out Movie Night for families.  We are seeking more volunteers to help make this a successful evening.  Joe Meskin and Jamie Voustros have been busy making gift baskets to raffle! They can give you more info! Please take the printed invitations and share with families of young children.

Men’s Quarterly Breakfast is June 11, 8 am at the church.  Sign up to attend. It’s FREE! Pastor Bob can give you more info.

Happy Birthday to Lori Fischer and Taylor Moore!  Happy Preschool Graduation to Scarlett Hippenhammer!  Who else has a graduate?  Send your child’s name, school, and grade of graduation to the piano player or to Pastor Billy ASAP.

Special healing prayers are going up for all of our sick members, particularly Gino, Donna, and Kay who are dealing with heavy duty stuff in the days to come.  Kay had another surgery this week.   Brenda Hajek and Harvey Ferguson were in a car accident on the way home after service and are being checked out at the hospital at the time of this post. Prayers for all of these folk plus prayers for all those who love and care for them.

Free Pizza Lunch was held after service for those new to Revolution. Pastors,  Elders, and wives were available for answering any questions about the church and our beliefs during the meal. Thank you for attending!

Seniors’ Mexican “FIESTA” had a good crowd Wednesday.  Thank you to all who cooked and decorated.  Judy Fash demonstrated the proper way to plant a patio pot, and afterwards it was given as the doorprize to Donna, one of our visitors. Next senior lunch is June 15.

Hello again, friends and family! Let’s talk about what’s happening here at Revolution this week!

How wonderful to see Ron Schmidt come through the door after months of absence!  We had special prayer for  his wife, Kay, who is still in Christ Hospital.

 

Donuts, fellowship and prayer was a success for men and women’s groups Saturday.  Thank you for rolling out of bed and coming out to participate.  These are monthly activities.

 

Graybars Project outreach to prisoners has several cards on the back table ready for signing.  Please take a minute to jot your name or an encouraging word for our inmates’ birthdays and prison college graduation. Some of the men in this program are relatives of people who attend here.

 

Seniors 55+, break out the sombreros and join your friends for a Mexican “FIESTA” May 18th, noon-3 pm. with sign-ups at the Connection Table. Our decorator, Judy Fash, will be on site to teach patio pot preparation after the meal for those who wish to improve their planting skills.

When you entered the church you probably noticed the two large concrete flower urns of yellow and purple tulips were missing. Apparently those pots grew legs and walked away! Police report was filed and a photo of the urns is circulating on the Manhattan Face Book page and on other personal pages. Keep your eyes open around town.

Hello, church family! Pull up a chair, and let’s talk about what’s happening at Revolution this week!

Blessed are those who mourn on Mother’s Day, and blessed are those who rejoice, too.  Thank you for joining us on this holiday of honor and remembrance. Every female was gifted a long stem red rose after service thanks to the generosity of the DeSandos.  How sweet is THAT?

Three ladies in the crowd won Revolution Church t-shirts in a drawing … One for themselves and one for a friend! Congrats to Rita, Freda and Connie!

Congratulations to Jamie Voustros who graduated Friday from the graduate program at Lewis University! This girl is going places, and we couldn’t be more proud! She was presented a bouquet and a blessing.

National Nurse’s Week is May 6-12.  Somebody once said “Nurses are simply angels in comfortable shoes.” Thank you and a round of applause to all the hardworking (and retired) nurses and nurse aides in this congregation.  Ann, Leslie, Tammy, Dana, Heather, Judy, Linda, Sandy, and anybody else who cares for the sick.

 

Happy 60th Birthday to Deacon Gene O’Brien on the 12th!  Kevin “Eclipse” Giera celebrates on the 13th! Sue Reuther’s birthday is TODAY!

Hello, church family! We appreciate all who sloshed through the April showers to come out for worship!  At least it wasn’t SNOW.

Today’s songs were “If We Are the Body”, “Because He Lives”, “Who You Say I Am”, and “Lay Em Down”. We shared in Communion. Monthly prayer meeting followed for all who wished to stay.

Senior Easter Lunch was Wednesday at the church with near 30 attending.  Guest speaker was John Roberts from HERO who shared about the drug epidemic plaguing our nation.  Thanks to all who brought food and to those responsible for the beautiful spring table décor! April 17, 2022:

 

Happy Resurrection Sunday, church family! Let us rejoice and be glad! We had so many visitors in the crowd including the Blaine Petersen family all the way from Stockton! Welcome!

Today’s songs were “He Arose”, “House of the Lord”, “Happy Day”, “Hallelujah For the Cross”, “Living Hope”, “At the Cross” and “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today”. Pastor Billy delivered the Easter message with text from John 3:1-18 and Maatthew 28:1-10. SIXTEEN people gave their hearts to Christ at the end of the service! Good Friday Candlelight Communion Service was well attended Friday evening. It was a moving and memorable service to honor the suffering and death of Jesus. Songs were “Were You There?”, “Once Again”, “If That Isn’t Love”, “Jesus Paid It All”, “Old Rugged Cross”, “Amazing Grace” and “How Deep the Father’s Love For Us”.

Pastor Billy has posted on Face Book the Good Friday service from 2020 when we were still under covid quarantine.  If you missed our live service Friday, have your Communion elements ready at home if you’d like to watch and participate online.

New member Luis Lopez and Phil Graniczny spent hours rewiring the stage to get rid of that blasted annoying buzz and hum during music.  THANK YOU, fellas!

Fishes and Loaves is seeking volunteers to provide a meal for the Radtke family of New Lenox since they have just brought home newborn Joshua!  This is a great way to help two very tired parents.  Speak to Dawn Gonda or mark your Connection Card if you’d like to provide a meal for this young family!  Thank you to those who have taken food!

Happy Palm Sunday, church family!

A big thank you to Marnie Carlson for inviting our church women to her Homer Glen home for lunch and fellowship last Sunday.  We heard lots of good feedback, and the ladies left feeling encouraged and loved.

Men met for Donuts and Devotional yesterday at the church.  Thanks to all who rolled out of bed early for this monthly gathering.

 

Many thanks to the volunteers who wrote and mailed Easter cards to all the inmates in Graybars Project outreach.  We are already hearing back from several gentlemen voicing appreciation for the remembrance.

Small group at Brenda Hajek’s New Lenox home will study the topic of “The Last Supper” and how it relates to our personal lives. There will  also be a game with prizes, so who is feeling lucky?  This free group is open to all, and meets at 6:30 pm on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month.

Bob Startz was back in service today after recuperating from heart surgery!

Kay Schmidt, Bruce Smit, and Donna Windberg are in our very special healing and encouragement prayers.  We hope all will regain their health quickly.

Happy Sunday, church family!

We appreciate the large donation of non-perishables you brought to benefit our community food pantry!  We collect the first Sunday of each month here.  Please double-bag your items to prevent rips and accidental spills by the handlers.

Today after service Marnie Carlson hosted a lovely salad lunch at her beautiful Homer Glen home just for our ladies.  Thank you for the kind invitation, Marnie.  We are so happy you have chosen Revolution as your new home church.

Book Club for ladies is reading “In the Field of Grace”, the story of Ruth.  Speak to Penny Knott if you would like to join this free fellowship group. There is a sign up at the Connection Table for Wed, April 6th .  6:30-6:45 pm is fellowship and light snack. Book discussion begins at 6:45-7:45 pm.

Men, you and your male friends are all invited to Donuts and Devotional at 8 am Saturday at the church. This free fellowship event last near an hour. See Pastor Bob if you have questions.

Good Friday Candlelight Communion Service is Friday, April 15, 7 pm at the church.  This is one of our best attended services of the year, so plan to come.  Please be advised the subject matter of the crucifixion may be difficult for younger children to watch. No childcare provided.

Next senior gathering is April 20th noon at the church. Sign up or speak to Kathy Felchlin to save your seat at the “He Is Risen” lunch table if you are 55 or older.

Kay Schmidt has returned to the hospital for more surgery.  Prayers her body will heal.  Prayers for her family to have strength during these rugged days. It was so wonderful to see Ron and her greet the people on video.

Bob Startz is still home recovering from his heart surgery.  We wish him renewed energy and an uneventful recuperation.

Our church has just expanded by two feet!  Congrats to Kate and Nick Radtke on the birth of Joshua Robert, 8 lb, 9 oz, 21 inches, born in the wee hours of April 1st! We are so thankful for a safe delivery and a healthy boy!

Happy Sunday, church family!

Can we give a round of applause to Greg and Judy Fash for the Easter décor in the sanctuary? It takes a lot of work and time to make this place look like spring. Great job!

Today’s songs were “Power In the Blood”, “House of the Lord”, “Chainbreaker”, “Draw Me Close” and ”The Blessing”. We shared Holy Communion today. Pastor Billy delivered a message called “What Do You Want?” with text from John 5:1-15. (You can watch this and past messages by going to the home page and clicking WATCH. Monthly prayer meeting followed the service.

Happy sunny Sunday, church family!

It was a wonderful surprise to see Cynthia Petersen pop in and surprise us all the way from Stockton today! We sure do miss the Petersen family since they moved!

Thank you to the ladies who came to the church Saturday and cleaned and organized our kitchen.

Thanks to all the seniors who turned out Wednesday for a traditional St. Patrick’s Day corned beef meal at the church to celebrate the holiday.  Next senior gathering is April 20th. Sign up or speak to Kathy Felchlin to save your seat.

We are still looking for one more person who would sit and play with babies once a month in our nursery.  This is an easy way to serve your church.

Congratulations to Mikey Nordsell and Amanda Peterson who got married this weekend in a private ceremony.  We wish them many years of love and happiness!

Kay Schmidt is still recuperating in the hospital after serious surgery, but soon hopes to transfer to rehab. Prayers for restoration of good health and joy for her, and prayers for strength for her caregivers!

Rita Brown took a nasty tumble at Target this week and is sporting a lot of facial bruising and stitches to the forehead.  We are thankful she didn’t sustain more serious injuries.  She was back in service with us today.

Happy Time Change Sunday!  Did you remember to “spring forward”? This was “Pajama Sunday” in the Shine Kids Ministry, so we saw some sleepy  cuties coming through the doors.  We also saw lots of green clothing in the crowd as St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner.

Today’s songs were “God Of Wonders”, “Raise a Hallelujah”, “Enough”, ”I Stand Amazed”, and “Only Believe”. Pastor Billy began the new March series, “The Chosen”, with a sermon called “Remarkable Things” with text from Mark 2:1-12, the miracle of the paralytic.  (You can watch this and past messages by going to the home page and clicking WATCH. 

“Iron Sharpens Iron” conference was in Orland Park on Saturday, with several of our men attending.  Thank you, Pastor Bob for organizing this outing.

Small group met Thursday at Brenda Hajek’s home in New Lenox. Topics vary each week, and this one was about the importance of forgiveness.  Come enjoy snack, fellowship, and study the Bible with Pastor Billy on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. This is FREE. 

If you are 55+, there is a noon traditional St. Patrick’s Day meal at the church on March 16th especially for you.  Speak to Kathy Felchlin to save your seat and to provide a dish to pass!

We are seeking people who would like to clean and organize the kitchen this Saturday at 9 am.

Happy Birthday to Linda Lee on the 15th! Mr. Cornelius also celebrates his birthday this week and is a faithful reader of this column.  Bob Brown’s birthday would’ve been on St. Patrick’s Day.  We will forever love and miss that man, so in his honor, let’s try hard particularly hard this week to be Ambassadors for Christ!

Speaking of Bob, we were delighted to have Rita display a quilt made from his favorite t-shirts and also a precious portrait of him being kissed by Jesus. What treasures!

Bruce Smit and Kay Schmidt were both hospitalized for surgery.  Bruce is now home, but Kay is not.  Prayers for restoration of good health and joy for both, and prayers for strength for their caregivers!

Thanks to everybody who contributed to our monthly food pantry drive today.  We collect non-perishables the first Sunday of each month to aide our community.

We have unisex round neck and women’s V-neck Revolution Church T-shirts for $10 each. Sizes tend to run small, so purchase a size larger than you would usually wear.  Small to 4x shirts are now available.  Pay Debbie Giera at the shirt table.

If you are 55+, there is a noon St. Patrick’s Day meal coming on March 16th that might interest you.  Sign up at the Connection Table or speak to Kathy Felchlin.  Stop and view the St. Patrick’s Day bulletin board on the T-shirt table.
