It takes guts to bite into chocolate covered tomatoes, olives and onions when you are expecting marshmallows or caramel.

Applause for Kevin “Eclipse” Giera for wearing pink heart doodle-boppers and passing out boxes of candy conversation hearts to all attendees at the door to commemorate our Valentine service!  He’s so funny!  His heart is as big as his feet…..and that is pretty ginormous! February 06, 2022:

Hello, friends!  If you are reading this, you survived that dreadful snowstorm Wednesday! One silver lining was that we made homemade chocolate and vanilla Snow Cream (snow ice cream) for sampling in the kitchen after church. Puxatawny Phil, America’s favorite groundhog, predicted six more weeks of winter. All in favor of Groundhog Stew raise your frostbitten hands!

Again, we thank Pastor Billy for arriving early and making sure the area near the church entrance was de-iced, shoveled, and safe for all of us to enter.  Anybody seeing him hustling alone out there each Sunday morning is welcome to lend a hand.  If we all do a little, nobody has to do a lot.

This morning we were asked to wear something red to participate in the America Heart Association’s GO RED campaign to bring awareness to heart health and heart disease prevention. Heart attack, abnormal heart rhythms, high blood pressure, stroke, angina, clots, and heart failure are a few of the diseases that several in this congregation have dealt with over the years. We pray that all of us would have clean and healthy physical AND spiritual hearts.

Today’s songs were “Hallelujah, Your Love Is Amazing”, “Let God Arise”, “Create In Me A Clean Heart”, “Love Ran Red”, and “Shout To the Lord”.  It was fantastic to have John Nordsell back on acoustic guitar following his stroke last month! He is seeing improvement and is working hard to get completely back to normal speech.

Pastor Billy kicked off the February series, “Kardia”, with a sermon called “Love is Patient, Love is Kind” with text from 1 Corinthians 13 and 1 Corinthians 12:27-31.  (You can watch this and past messages by going to the home page and clicking WATCH.)

What a well-deserved honor for Diane Neakarse to be installed as a Deaconess this morning! This woman has been faithful to this church and has been mindful to serve and be an encourager wherever she has found a need amongst us. Congratulations, Diane!

Thanks to all who contributed to the community food pantry drive today.  Remember, we collect non-perishables here the first Sunday of each month. Organizers ask that we double-bag items to prevent rips and spills.

When you visit the Graybars Project table to sign prisoner birthday cards, linger a minute and check out the new Revolution Church T-shirts. We have men’s round neck and women’s V-neck for $10 each. Sizes tend to run small, so purchase a size larger than you would usually wear.  3x and 4x are on back order. Thanks to Debby Giera for managing sales for us for the next few Sundays!

For the second month in a row Ladies Book Club had to be postponed because of brutal weather. This has been rescheduled for THIS Wednesday evening.  Contact Penny Knott for more information on this fellowship evening.  This group is FREE.

Donuts and Devotional is Saturday, Feb. 12, 8 am at the church. This fellowship event is free for all men and their male friends/visitors.  We need you to sign up at the Connection Table if you are coming.

Pastor Billy’s new online study, “ROMANS”, is Tuesdays at 6:30 pm on his Face Book page. Worship Wednesday is noon on FB and You Tube. Last week’s show was “What Keeps You Awake At Night?”  The featured songs were “Fear is a Liar”/Zach Williams, and “Worn”/Tenth Avenue North.

Thank you to each volunteer who has stepped up to serve in our children’s area recently.  Still looking for ONE MORE smiling person to play with babies in the nursery once a month.

Kudos to Deacon Gene O’Brien currently deployed to Kentucky to aid in tornado clean-up with Samaritan’s Purse. He is ALWAYS busy helping others with his skills!  Thank you, Geno!

Happy Birthday to Jo Ann Preston on the 9th! Miriam Sandoval celebrated a birthday on the 3rd!  Speaking of Miriam, in a vote taken during last week’s annual business meeting, it was decided that the church will add Sandoval Ministries to this year’s missions we support!

January 9, 2022:

Hello, friends! If you are reading this, you survived the snow and the brutally frigid temps of this week. Here’s what took place this week at Revolution:

First, we must thank Pastor Billy and John Chamblee for making sure our parking lot was de-iced, since early this morning it was like a skating rink after the hard freeze overnight.  Thank you for keeping us safe!

Today’s songs were “How Can I Keep From Singing”, “Words I Would Say”, “The Blessing”, “Raise A Hallelujah” and “Friends”.  Pastor Billy kicked off his new “Reboot” series with a sermon called “The Blessing” with text from Numbers 6:22-17. (You can watch this and past messages by going to the home page and clicking WATCH.)

With bittersweet tears we celebrated Pr. Julian, Pr. Miriam, and Elena Sandoval for their years of service with us at Revolution. They are entering a new phase of ministry, and this was their final Sunday here.  They shared with us their upcoming plans for their new calling, “Sandoval Ministries”.  After words from the Smiths, hugs, a group prayer of blessing, flowers, a photo memory video, gifts, and then the Sandovals’ blessings prayed over Pastor and Penny, we ate homemade treats together and signed a banner for them to keep.  They certainly made a difference here! The door is always open to this family!

Friends, our Fishes and Loaves ministry is seeking volunteers to provide some meals for a well-loved young family and a new senior woman in our church who are in need of a bit of extra TLC.  If you can step up and help them over the hump, please speak to Dawn Gonda, the leader, for more information. If you can’t cook, perhaps a gift card, groceries, or food delivery would be easier. Thank you for caring!

Donuts and Devotional for men was Saturday.  Afterwards several folk showed up to clear the church of Christmas décor and that magnificent manger and tree.  Thank you to all who braved the cold to show up for both happenings.

Ladies Book Club New Year Kickoff was cancelled Wednesday because of dangerously low temperatures and blowing snow. Feb 2nd, 7 pm is the rescheduled date.  Contact Penny Knott for more information.  This group is FREE.

Brenda Hajek is opening her New Lenox home the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month for Bible study beginning January 13, 6:30 pm.  Pastor Billy will lead this, and topics vary each week, so if you have to miss a class, you will not be behind when you return. Sign up at the Connection Table. NOTE THE SCHEDULING CHANGE FROM WEDNESDAY TO THURSDAY!

Friends, we are in need of one more nursery helper to love on the littlest ones once a month.  Can you rock a baby or play with some of our tiniest members for an hour?  It would be hugely helpful if you will step up and serve.  Thank you, Diana Lopez for so joyfully volunteering! Welcome back!

Senior lunch and White Elephant gift exchange scheduled for January 19th has been rescheduled for later in February.  Listen for further announcements.

Are you considering joining Revolution Church?  Jan. 23rd after church there is a meeting to explore membership. Lunch and childcare will be provided. This is a time to learn what we believe and to ask questions you might have. You must sign up at the Connection Table.

Get well wishes are going out to Marnie Carlson and the Hippenhammers!  You are missed!

Congratulations to George and Darla Carroll who showed off their new pup, Leah, today!  What a cuddly lump of sugar!

Hello, friends! Thanks for braving the first good sized snow of the season to join us in worship this first Sunday of 2022! Here’s what took place this week at Revolution:

Today’s songs were “Sweet By and By”, “Blessed Be Your Name”, “Always” and “Battle Belongs”.  Pastor Billy shared the pulpit with Pastor Bob Smith whose sermon about Seedtime and Harvest used text from Genesis 1:11-12. (You can watch this and past messages by going to the home page and clicking WATCH.)

Thank you for sharing nonperishables today with the local food pantry!  We collect here the first Sunday of each month. Because so many were absent because of dangerous roads, we will collect again next Sunday to be able to deliver a decent donation.

Remember that next Sunday we will celebrate Pr. Julian, Pr. Miriam, and Elena Sandoval for their years of service with us at Revolution. They are entering a new phase of ministry, and this will be their final Sunday, so make every effort to be here to clap and cheer for them as they embark!

Friends, our Fishes and Loaves ministry is seeking volunteers to provide some meals for a well-loved young family in our church who is in need of a bit of extra TLC.  If you can step up and help them over the hump, please speak to Dawn Gonda, the leader, for more information. If you can’t cook, perhaps a gift card, groceries, or food delivery would be easier. Thank you for caring!

Graybars Project thanks you for your support this past year! If you have extra new Christmas cards/envelopes or postage stamps left over after the holidays, keep in mind that our prison ministry can put them to good use for 2022.  We will be accepting cards at the baptismal table for another week.  Thank you for all who visit the table each week to sign birthday cards for the inmates. Several sent Christmas cards back to US, and those are also found on the back table for your enjoyment.

Ladies Book Club New Year Kickoff is Wednesday, January 5, 7 pm at the church. This is fellowship and snacks with an introduction to the new book. Questions?  Speak with Penny Knott.

Donuts and Devotional is Jan. 8th, 8 a.m. at the church.  All men are invited to come and fellowship.  This is FREE.  Please sign up at the Connection Table!

After Donuts Judy Fash invites men and women to help take down church holiday decorations. If you can spare a bit of your morning, it would be most appreciated.

For those who have been asking for in-person small group, Brenda Hajek is opening her New Lenox home the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month for Bible study beginning January 12, 6:30 pm.  Pastor Billy will lead this, and topics vary each week, so if you have to miss a class, you will not be behind when you return. Sign up at the Connection Table.

Friends, we are in need of two extra nursery helpers to love on the littlest ones once a month.  Surely, we have enough members to give an hour a month to serve their home church.  There is a sign up sheet on the Connection Table if you will simply play with and rock babies.

55+ year old folks are invited to lunch and a White Elephant gift exchange at the church on Wednesday, January 19, at noon.  Kathy Felchlin is in charge, so go to her for more info.  Sign up to attend and also sign up to bring a passing dish for the meal.

Are you considering joining Revolution Church?  Jan, 23rd after church there is a meeting to explore membership. Free lunch and childcare will be provided. This is a time to learn what we believe and to ask questions you might have. You must sign up at the Connection Table.

While you are signing up at the Connection Table, help yourself to a free Daily Bread devotional booklet and a good quality bookmark. There is a variety of designs to choose from.   We don’t want any of these to go to waste.

Pastor Julian’s Warm Their Soles ministry to homeless is still collecting new warm socks for the street people.  Granola bars and tiny packs of peanut butter crackers are also appreciated.  If you want to donate, bring items no later than NEXT SUNDAY!

Our Yearly Business Meeting will be held after service on Sunday, Jan. 30th.  This is for members only. We will discuss vision for 2022, church budget, and other business items for the upcoming year.

Pastor Billy’s online study is Tuesdays at 6:30 pm on his Face Book page. Last week’s show was “Ugly Sweater or Ugly Personality?”.  “Worship Wednesday” videos are live at noon on Facebook, too.

Pastor Julian’s Thursday 6:30 pm online Bible study is on his Face Book page.  “Amongst Friends” features a different topic each week with Julian and various friends.

Happy Birthday wishes going out across the miles to Sue Mulder on the 5th and Jason Hippenhammer on the 6th! We ask that God grant them wisdom, pour grace all over them, and cover them with His hands.

Get well soon, Marnie Carlson and the Chambers family!  You are missed!

That’s the news today from Revolution Church. Bring some friends and come join us at 10 am next Sunday. WELCOME 2022! Please be good to us!

Ladies Book Club New Year Kickoff is Wednesday, January 5, 7 pm at the church. This is fellowship and snacks with an introduction to the new book. Questions?  Speak with Penny Knott.

Several holiday cards of appreciation were sent by the prisoners and are available to read at the large table in the back of the sanctuary.

Reagan Hippenhammer has a birthday today! Bass player, Phil Graniczny has a birthday Tuesday.  Camera guy, Bruce Smit was born on the 23rd, and the Hospitality Queen, Brenda Hajek, was born on Christmas day!

Round of applause for Joe Meskin who graduated from Lewis University with his bachelor's degree in Accounting!  Joe has been a tremendous help putting lyrics on the wall since Cynthia Petersen moved.  He also faithfully serves in our children's ministry.  We wish we could clone him!  We are in need of helpers to give him a break at the tech table.  If you are willing to serve your church in this area, please speak to Pastor Billy or Joe.

That’s the news today from Revolution Church. Bring some friends and come join us for Christmas Eve and also at 10 am next Sunday.  Let us be extra mindful to check on each other during the holidays. We would never want any of us to feel forgotten or alone. Merry Christmas!
