Welcome, December! Please be kind to us.

Friends, how did you like the new light curtain behind the stage? Gene O’Brien and Diane McCullough helped to create that beauty! The whole sanctuary is so festive. Now is the time to invite friends to come check out your church. Mark your calendar for Thursday, Christmas Eve, for 5 pm for our public candlelight service. It should last about an hour.

Today Pastor Billy began his December sermon series, “Home Alone”, with a message called “Gloom to Glory” from Isaiah 9:1-7. Songs were “Angels We Have Heard On High”, “God With Us”, and the classic hymn, “It Is Well” for all the people who crave the golden oldies. Many thanks to all who shared non-perishables with the local food pantry drive today! We were able to feed several local families with your items!

Thanks to all who contributed the seven large bags of warm jackets and coats to bless the MorningStar Missions based in Joliet! God is pleased with generosity and compassion! This officially ends our winter coat drive.

December 13th is our annual Ugly Sweater contest, so let those freak flags fly and get creative! There will be prizes for the top three outfits, so put on your thinking caps, and let’s have fun!

Remember that Pastor Julian has an ongoing collection of new socks for the homeless in a basket beside the camera table! Thank you to all who have already brought socks to help keep the street people warmer and drier.

It’s important that nobody falls through the cracks.

Special prayers for Durk Lee in post-op therapy at home. Brian Fischer is now home from the hospital and regaining his strength. Yay! Our favorite doorman, Charlie Printy has been in the hospital several days this week, too.

Send up extra prayers for the Petersen family as Cynthia’s father, Mr. Calvin Honeycutt, passed away Wednesday evening in South Dakota. His service will be there Monday.

Happy Birthday wishes to Harvey Ferguson, Jr! Happy Birthday to our spunkiest greeter, Freda Wolfenden, too!

We strongly encourage you to watch from home should you be feeling poorly. We are trying our hardest to protect each other from illness so we can all enjoy the holiday season in good health. Hugging and shaking hands is not advised at our church this time with the increase in covid cases in our communities. Masks and hand sanitizer are provided near the entrance if you forget your own. November 29, 2020:

Hello again friends and family! After waking from our food comas, we waddled into worship in our drawstring stretchy pants today after a weekend of feasting and stuffing ourselves with leftovers! We hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving even though many of us couldn’t gather as usual because of covid precautions! Next year will be better!

Wasn’t the church gorgeous today? Round of applause for Judy Fash and her team of volunteers who came on Friday and Saturday to beautify God’s house in celebration of Jesus’s birthday! A+ job! They were treated to pizza for their hard work.

Today Pastor Billy continued his November sermon series, “Un-Civil War”, with a message called “Better Together” from Luke 5:17-26. Thanks to Autumn Hensle and the team of friends who carried him to Jesus to help illustrate the sermon. Songs were “Open Up the Heavens”, “Once Again (Thank You For the Cross )” for Communion, “Even So Come” to kick off Advent, and “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.” There was prayer meeting after church for those who wished to stay. Durk Lee was discharged from the hospital Friday and is now recuperating at home following complications from gallbladder removal. Pray for strength for the Lees during these difficult days of therapy and regaining strength.

It is great to have John Baron back with us after being gone for family medical reasons for a long while!

As we enter into flu season and are also hearing that covid cases are increasing in our communities, be smart and respect your fellow church members by doing your part.

Wednesday was Veterans Day, and we cannot ever miss an opportunity to appreciate the men and women who have defended our United States of America. To all those at Revolution who are military, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!

Men’s Quarterly Breakfast was yesterday here at the church with a dozen attending. Food was catered by Teardrop Restaurant. Pastor Bob gave the devotional. Listen for announcements for the December donut gathering!

Debbie and Greg Struck celebrate their 6th wedding anniversary this weekend! John Grafrath up in NY just celebrated his birthday! Dawn Gonda has a birthday Nov. 16th! She is in charge of our Fishes and Loaves ministry, so if you enjoy cooking and would like to prepare a meal now and again for those in our congregation who have special circumstances that make cooking temporarily difficult or impossible, see Dawn, and she will teach you real quick how to be a blessing in this area.

Condolences to Bob and Rita Brown upon the passing of Bob’s brother, Kenneth.

Happy Sunday, friends! It was good to see so many out to worship this morning! Several are saying this is the most vibrant year for leaf colors they can remember in decades. God has been painting His trees for our delight! Here’s what’s happening at church:

Today Pastor Billy continued his October sermon series with a message called “Pandemic” from Genesis 3:15, Revelation 12:9, and Deuteronomy 30:19-20. Songs were “Enough”, “We Believe”, “Jesus Paid It All” for Communion, and “We’ve Got the Power”. Following the service there was our end of month churchwide prayer meeting for those who wished to stay. Thank you to Bruce Smit who brought the Rx Savings cards to share at the Harvest Table. Hopefully, those will save you several dollars on your next medicine. This is end of growing season, so unless we have pumpkin farmers that start attending, this wraps it up for bringing produce to church. Thanks for all who participated and shared their surplus!

Songs were “Let the Praises Ring”, “There is a Fountain Filled With Blood”, “The Blessing”, and “God Is So Good”. We were glad to have Noel Knott singing with the worship team today. Pencil in the evening of Oct.30th for Special Ops Prayer Meeting here at the church. This is the final meeting before the Presidential election, and all are invited to come and intercede. Pastor Bob is in charge of this monthly event and can answer any questions.

Happy Birthday to “Mr. Fix-It”, Charlie Printy on October 20! (For goodness sake, nobody buy him another hammer!) Round of applause for Jamie Voustros who was award the Lewis University Mental Health Awareness Annual Scholarship for the 2020-2021 school year! Let’s welcome back Pat Baker from Memphis! She will be staying with her sister, Brenda, at least through Thanksgiving, so enjoy her while we have her in Illinois!

Following service, Graybars Project held their annual appreciation day for those who have served and donated to the prison ministry. Lunch was provided, many door prizes awarded, and then Pastor Bob and Heather’s son, Bobby, shared the story of his incarceration. It was an inspirational day with laughter and tears, and we thank all who worked hard to make it possible!

Thank you to the guys who came out on Saturday for Donuts and Devotional! We do this again in November, so listen for the announcement.

Thank you to all the people who donated items for the Graybars Project book drive! Since the local correctional facilities we serve are not accepting donations because of covid restrictions, our items restocked library shelves for a jail in the Appalachian mountains of NC. We received many religious hardbacks and Bible study books that did not meet guidelines for that jail, so those were shared with an Assembly of God and a Baptist church in that same region. All three places send big thank yous for your generosity!

Pastor Billy’s Book of Acts online study has been averaging 300-400 participants each week! You are invited to tune in for free on Tuesdays 6:30-7:30 pm on Pastor’s Face Book page.

Happy Sunday, friends! Welcome to October! It was good to see so many out to worship on this chippy morning! Here’s what’s happening:

Today Pastor Billy began his October sermon series with a message called “To Be A Blessing” from Matthew 14:13-21 and Deuteronomy 30:19-20. Songs were “Love the Lord”, “Here I Am to Worship”, a new hit from Kari Jobe ,“The Blessing”, and “Fill My Cup, Lord”. Much appreciation to those who supported our local food pantry by bringing in your non-perishables today! Remember we do this the first Sunday of each month.

It has been seven months since our last men’s fellowship event, so we are happy to announce Men’s Donuts and Devotional will be at the church Saturday, October 10, at 8 am. This time we need you to sign up at the Connection Table to get a head count. Pastor Bob can give you more info.

Next Sunday Graybars Project will host their annual appreciation event for those who have supported our prison outreach by volunteering this past year. Those who RSVP’d, we will see you there!

We are in need of extra ushers and greeters! If you would like to serve in this area, Elena Sandoval would love to train you and put you to work! Your church needs you now!

Happy 52nd anniversary to Bob and Rita Brown! Wow! In this day and age 52 years together is majorly impressive! Happy 14th Anniversary to Julian and Miriam Sandoval! Elisabeth Hippenhammer turned 9 this week! Happy Birthday to Heather Smith today! Lakeda Vaughn celebrates on the 7th at her new home in TX! We sure do miss you and Trinity, Lakeda! Happy Sunday, friends! It was good to see so many out to worship on this beautiful fall morning! Here’s what’s happening:

Today we shared in Communion together, and then Pastor Billy completed the spiritual warfare sermon series with a message called “Blessed Be the Name of the Lord” from Job 1:13, 20-21. Songs were “Open the Eyes of my Heart”, “Blessed Be the Name”, and “Communion”. Monthly prayer meeting followed after service for those who wished to stay. Special Ops Prayer Meeting was here Friday evening at the church. Thank you to all who came out to pray. Mark your calendar for the last Friday of each month for this gathering.

Remember we will be collecting non-perishables for the local food bank NEXT Sunday. Keep in mind that at this time they do NOT need pasta, potatoes, rice, sugar or flour. Durk and Linda Lee can give you more information about this ministry.

Beside the camera table is a basket to collect socks for Pastor Julian’s Warm Their Soles homeless ministry. Because of Covid restrictions, the monthly trips to the Morning Star Mission are on hold. The Sandovals can give you more information on this wonderful ministry.

October 11, Sunday afternoon, Graybars Project will host their annual appreciation event for those who have supported our prison outreach by volunteering this past year. Bobby Smith, Pastor Bob and Heather’s son, is guest speaker! Volunteers must sign up at the Connection Table by NEXT SUNDAY for final headcount.

No books can be accepted after today.

After church there was a potluck luncheon for those who lead ministries here. Thank you for another year of service at Revolution. It takes a strong team to keep this ministry running like a well-oiled machine.

Special Ops Prayer Meeting will be here at the church Friday, September 25, 6:30-8:30 pm. Come and stay as long as you like as we do spiritual warfare with our weapon of prayer. Pastor Bob can give you more information about this monthly event.

We need your gently used paperback novels NEXT WEEK, Sunday 27th for a Graybars Project outreach to restock the jail library shelves for adult men and women. This year all doors have been closed to us for book drives because of Covid-19 closures, but we have this last-minute green light for one facility! DO NOT BRING hardbacks, textbooks, books with highlighted passages, or damaged books as these are against jail policy. Put them directly into Tammy and Bruce’s truck and not inside the building. No books can be accepted after NEXT SUNDAY.

Happy Sunday! What a gorgeous morning God gave us for gathering to worship! Welcome back to “What’s Happening”! Here’s what is going on:

Today Pastor Billy continued the sermon series, “Armor of God“, with a message called “Stronghold” from 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. Our songs were “You Are Good”, “Who You Say I Am ”, and “Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone”. At the end of the service we clapped and cheered as we had the joy of watching six of our members be baptized! Because of chilly water temperatures, we moved the event from the Grifford’s pool back to the church sanctuary. Big thanks to the muscle men who stepped up to be sure everybody could enter and exit the water safely! Congratulations to Jamie Voustros, Linda Delost, Grant and Faith Cromwell, Susan Ruether, and Mike Seklecki.
